LET’S START WITH A STORY — ONE THAT DATES BACK TO ANCIENT ITALY.

Italian culture is steeped in delicious things and lifetimes of incredible history. Part of this history includes a bit of Roman mythology that ties well into the name Fiorellas (Flower). Flora is a regal maternal figure in Roman mythology —known as the goddess of flowering plants, she is often portrayed wearing a crown of blooms, dressed in lightweight cream or baby blue colored clothing. (She is also associated with spring, vegetation, vines, olives and fruit trees.)Flora always wanted a child — it is said when she provided Juno (goddess of marriage, love and childbirth) with a magic flower this allowed her to finally conceive a baby, and shortly after she gave birth to Mars. (It is said her powers not only protect flowers from harm but aid in fertility.)A festival called Floralia was held April 28 to May 3 in her honor. It was originally a movable feast where people would gather to play games, dance and drink. ‘It was said the scene was one of unrestrained merriment.
